The Taylor School:  A Progressive Montessori Preschool with a Unique Approach

The child, making use of all that he finds around himself, shapes himself for the future.
–Maria Montessori

What makes the Taylor School different is that highly trained teachers create a preschool classroom environment that serves to educate and not simply entertain. It has been documented that graduates of a montessori program become better collaborators, seekers, makers, and doers. Children are not taught where to go, they are taught how to go. The classrooms of the Taylor School are deliberately designed to lead the child on a journey of joyful discovery not only of the world around them, but of themselves. Every classroom opportunity (what we call works) poses for each child a specific question to be answered and a manageable challenge to be mastered. This process of choice and discovery creates, brick by brick, a foundation of confidence, curiosity, and courage that will inspire and inform for a lifetime. At age 3 the legendary chef Julia Child and Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brinin did not know what they were going to be, but they were taught how to get there.

This is what we do at the Taylor School. It is magical. It is important.
